I would go with the slim and attractive ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH5Q 13inch. The first thing that caught my eye when looking at this laptop is the Sleek and light weight aluminum body for comfortable portability this it comes with. It also has a built in fingerprint reader with one touch login, with the Latest 7th Gen Intel i5-7200U 2.5 GHz Processor it certainly packs a punch. Featuring 256GB SSD with 8GB DDR3 RAM this laptop is one for the taking 2.6 lbs weight is hitting that sweet spot.

You old spend as low as $799 and get all you are looking for in this ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH5Q which comes with a nice 7th gen i5 processor, 8 GB RAM,fast 256 GB SSD, a very nice display quality and excellent build quality. It also has a decent crunchy keyboard. You wont miss the Macbook feel.. If keyboard is a big deal, this Lenovo Thinkpad 13 has a wonderful keyboard..

The MBA isn't worth it. If this is the one we're talking about, I'd go for it instead.

Hi,

With that budget you have plenty high quality laptops to choose from: noteb search results. You can change the search parameters using the "Refine results" button. You can also click on the laptops for more information.

I would suggest you go with a Thinkpad since they have excellent keyboards, build quality and reliability but they probably cost around $1400. The XPS is also good choice, normally it sells for a lot more (on Dell's website that configuration is $1350). The cheapest is the UX330, which you can find here.

I didn't feel like I really needed a touchscreen or 2-in-1.

Well now that you mention I was thinking on this Asus but it has 2 major flaws:

1. The RAM is supposedly soldered
   
2. According to the guide the trackpad doesn't work
