I taped the bumper guard around the edge of my desk so that it doesn't hurt when I pressed too tightly on it.
A good wrist-rest is like $15 much better than that piece of plastic you get with a keyboard.

I have the 25 inch.
Sadly the dip switches don't have an option for this. I can turn either of the Fn keys into an additional space bar or invalidate the win and app keys but it doesnt say anything about turning the app into RCtrl.

Agree that a wrist rest is helpful. The 19" version of this (out of stock) has been my daily driver at work for 5 years. At $20 and with Amazon shipping, might be a cheap, fast way to see if you want to make a bigger investment. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000X4WCJU
There may be much better ones out there, but I use this one I got from Amazon. I'm using it with a Model M SSK and the height is just right.
I don't like the plastic/slick mousepads and I really love my Goliathus <funny a shape>. Its huge, cloth-y, has great desk traction, and the sewn border has really held up.
If anyone is a wrist rest person, I use the larger Goliathus along with a 3M wrist rest as seen here. They are almost the exact same width. I also have the same wrist rest for my keyboard and both have made a major impact on my wrist health for the better.
There's also this wrist-rest from Amazon that is ~$5 cheaper if you have Prime (free shipping).
