Holy crap it takes them $235 to make a single unit? That's surprising considering it's primarily plastic [injection mold] with some off-the-shelf electronics.

Edit: I wondered how much each major part of the Coolest Cooler would cost if I purchased each component individually:

just an idea, but you could stick some battery-powered led lights on the ceiling in each shelf to add some extra light. the ones i'm thinking of turn on by pushing them in like these, but i'm sure you could find something better.

Adding little stick-on battery-powered lights (like this, or maybe something even smaller) to the underside of the shelves would really help make your collection more visible. Pretty cool!

You could also get a small LED adhesive light, like this or this, that you could stick to your bathroom wall. Just push it and it'll light up enough for you to aim, but not enough to hurt your eyes. Also useful to strategically position around your house in case of power outages, or somewhere like a closet or outdoor shed that can be dark but doesn't have an outlet easily available.

Yeah, I don't want anything hanging in my toilet, on the rim, etc. Just gets dirty, adds another step to cleaning. I have a little "touch" LED light (example) sitting on top of toilet tank, works well: easy tap on and off, small, not too bright, affordable, regular batteries, stays clean, recommended.
