This is the oil I'm using. If you aren't sensitive to fragrance you could also use baby oil. I get my face a little damp with water and then apply the oil gently, rubbing in small circles for a minute or so. Then I wipe it off with a few cotton balls (2-3) and cleanse with my Cerave foaming cleanser. Follow with a toner to make sure there is no leftover oil/soap/makeup/dirt.

Thank you so much!

I OCM 7 nights a week. It's safe to do every day because it is so gentle on skin. Following up with a regular cleanser won't leave my skin as soft and smooth as when I just OCM, but if there any lingering traces of makeup or grossness I feel like it helps to get everything off. When I first started OCM, I always used a regular cleanser after doing it, but now only when I've gotten really gross that day.

I have only ever used mineral oil because it works so well. This link from the sidebar talks about different kinds of oils and their various benefits and drawbacks. I may try something else in the future, but for now I am very happy with mineral oil and have seen a dramatic difference in my skin. I definitely suggest starting with mineral oil because it is so gentle, it's also fairly inexpensive. I use this stuff (as recommended by another SCA member) and have been very happy with it.

I had no idea cold cream could do that. I just looked up mineral oil on Amazon and it gave me "butcher block conditioner" for most of the results. This is the closest I could find, does that look right?

All I wear for foundation right now is Rimmel's Stay Matte powder. I'm trying to be nicer to my skin and not clog my pores like crazy, but I don't appear to be achieving that.

Thanks for going through all of your causes! I did just get a new shampoo as well. Hm. (Can you tell I got a new job that gives me enough breathing room to get pampering things?)

For me, I patch test where I usually break out which is along my jawline and on my chin. As I haven't got any active acne on my chin (bang in the middle right now!) I've been patch testing there, as I'll definitely be able to tell if something does cause an issue.

Mineral oil doesn't cause pore clogging for many people, but it can. I recommend starting out with that. If your skin isn't sensitive to fragrance you can use baby oil. [oops just saw you are sensitive to fragance.. so am I, skin twin!] Do patch test though, you should patch test everything to avoid issues in the future (I learned this the hard way!!)

Remember that you can use your clinique cleanser if you double cleanse and wash the oil off your face as it's recommended to use a foaming cleanser to make sure it all comes off!

I use Africare mineral oil http://www.amazon.com/Africare-100-Mineral-Oil-8-5/dp/B003CTG0W8 but I think a lot of people find pure unfragranced mineral oil in hardware stores for oiling cutting boards? Just make sure mineral oil is the only ingredient if you do go with it.

Afterthought

Just re-reading your post, my acne cleared but I was left with CRAZY closed comedones everywhere. I can't recommend the Paula's Choice 10% weekly resurfacing liquid enough. They are clearing so quickly!

(i also just sent this:)

PS. I have done a bit more research, and I feel more confident believing that this is a faulty batch than that your company has been dishonest. It seems you have an item that is cocoa butter oil -- is it possible for there to have been a mass mislabeling and the labels for the two products were switched? Several people have had the same experience:

For me, the worst case scenario is a horrible break out, but there might be more grave consequences for those who have an allergy. Please take care of this as soon as possible and keep me updated when the problem is resolved so I know when it's safe to order this product again.

LOL!

You can use that laxative one for a shaving oil--it works pretty well actually. I didn't know what to do with my bottle--hated it bc of consistency--so I've started shaving with it/applying it after I get out of the shower on my legs. Can't let things go to waste!

This from iHerb is $4 and pure/unfragranced. Or it's $5 from Amazon-but it looks like it's an add-on. Or Snow River Wood Oil off Amazon is like $7--and since MO doubles as cutting board oil, you could use it for your wood cutting board if for the face/body is a fail. : P
