I bring camp shoes on all but overnights. Its not a "luxury item" for me, its a necessity. My feet are very sweaty and get thrashed wearing the same pair of dirty shoes all day. I've tried to ditch camp shoes on too many trips where I ended up with bad blisters and athletes foot.
I've done a lot of looking and these Chinese style shower shoes are the best I've found.

This thicker style shoe is also MUCH more suitable for walking in the backcountry than other comparable weight choices such as Old Navy flip flops. No more ripping out the thong strap on the first night of a 5 day trip.
I also find them very squishy and comfortable which is important since me and plantar fasciitis are in a fight right now.
