Well, you may be happy to know that it was announced that David Alan Foster is writing an official Alien: Covenant Origins novel. 304 pages on the 10 year adventure of Shaw and David. It will be out in September. Hopefully it won't just be chapter after chapter of him cutting her open and scratching his chin.

Here is info on the book. It's going to seemingly cover content that the movie would have, so it's likely they scrapped the idea for a prequel movie and are just releasing it as a novel so they can focus on a Covenant sequel.
