Don't be frustrated. My great-grandmother tried to teach me to crochet. As a kid, I never got it. About two years ago, I saw a crochet turtle that I wanted to make, because I'm weird and cheap. I bought the pattern, found some yarn, got the hooks, and started up with Naztazia's YouTube guidance. It might help, it might not. I find that I need a video to explain stitches more than reading instructions.
Everyone learns differently. And crochet and gardening do not a good grandmother make. I grew up with a never-going-to-be-crafty Grandma, and don't feel emotionally scarred from it.
Also, this is silly and fun.
