What socket is that? AM2?
If that's the case you could upgrade it to a 2.6 GHZ Dual Core for like $2.66, then get an GeForce 750TI for $130. That should get you to a point where you can game on HL2 games at 60FPS+ no problem, and get it so you can get some of the newer games to run on medium/high settings.
The only bottleneck would be your CPU. Our other option is to look into giving you more ram as well since that will also help your performance quite a bit.
