Not to knock the movie, but you're better off reading the book

I just disagree with that pretty much. I didn't vote for Reagan but it seems clear to me that he could have stood on a soapbox in the Castro in 1981 and the reaction from the gay community would have been: Go fuck yourself.

Blaming Reagan is an oversimplification and deflects responsibility for many of the problems in the gay community itself when the AIDS crisis first began.
