Look into Anker batteries. I bought one for my S3 and it's still going strong.

Also, I hear battery savers cause more trouble than they save, but I'm not qualified to speak on that so maybe research it a bit.

Instead of getting awful fake batteries, Anker has their own "custom" battery with 100 mAH extra for 10$ here.

I had similar problems and purchased this battery and have seen marked improvement. I also switched out the usb connection on the wall charger with a higher quality usb (you can find them cheap on Amazon) and like that better.

> but also wsnt sure if I should wait for the S6

I'd say wait for the s6.

The s3 was a decent phone when it was released, but now it's crap. I had one, went to an s4 - it's such a faster and better phone it's almost unbelievable. If I had known, I would have switched when it came out.

But - an s6 should have band 12, which the s5 (and most other phones right now) don't have. It should be designed with VoLte in mind as well, though the s5 does have VoLte if I remember right already.

I personally bought a refurbished s4 because I needed a TMobile phone (my s3 was on verizon) and I'm waiting for around March when the next crop of phones will come out that have band 12 and are designed for VoLte.

If you're having battery life issues, you can buy a new battery for the s3 for $10-$15, like this one:

Batteries for these are also pretty cheap on Amazon. I bought a replacement battery for mine last year and it did wonders for my phone.

I see the other guy recommends you install Cyanogen, and I can speak from experience as I currently have Cyanogen 13 (Marshmallow) installed.

First off, do install Cyanogen, I love it so far!!

But it doesn't really fix the battery issues, in fact I think I might actually go through battery a little faster on this ROM.

The S3 was not really future-proofed, in that the battery life has pretty much always sucked. To combat this I bought two Anker 2200mAh Batteries and two Wall Battery Chargers from Amazon. Its great! I love going from 0% straight to 100% in just a minute or two.

I personally go though about 80-160% of battery a day with about 2-5 hours of demanding screen on time, so I do really recommend keeping an extra battery with you. Here is today's minimal (2 hours 50 minutes screen on time) battery usage for reference.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

P.S. Here is the download link for CyanogenMod for your phone.

I grabbed this one a while ago after my OEM battery started ballooning, same size, effectively the same capacity, and retains NFC.

It can be hard to find legitimate samsung oem batterys, they're easy to fake so by going 3rd party you know what they're getting. Anker is an awesome company.

Also if you're rooted resetting the battery stats file through an app.

This one is made by Anker. They're arent Samsung batteries -- but they are very good batteries...

My girlfriend's s3 had terrible battery life as well after a couple years. Recently bought 2 of these and a standalone charger. When one is dead, swap em and you never even have to plug it in.

Damn my nexus 4 without removable battery, I really miss never having to plug my phone in.

He means this one, or get two and a charger to swap them out on the go.

I've used Anker and they are reliable.
