Based on a terrific book by Jeff Vandermeer.

I've been reading Annihilation, thanks to a suggestion here. I haven't finished it just yet, but it absolutely nails that definition of Kafkaesque. It's really interesting, light on exposition and 'ominous atmosphere' is exactly what's going through my head as I read it. I think you'll notice those Amazon reviews say much the same thing.
*flies off to Amazon to spend $11.23 for the book*

Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. I honestly didn't care for it, but it does depict a region where the world isn't the same as it is outside of the region. Strange, creepy and unexplained- part 1 of 3.
Check out Annihilation by Vandermeer. It is far more controlled and sparse then his earlier works.
