Sorry, not a professor, but a PhD student who's preparing for prelims. I just got an ipad for this exact reason. The 9.7 inch 2018 version has Apple Pencil support and sells for $250 on Amazon.

Picked up one of these, the apple pencil, and the notability app for under $400 total. It works beautifully and was totally worth it imo. All my papers w/ highlights and annotations synch directly to my computer along with all my notes etc through the app.

It's incredibly hard to recommend a tablet, when you don't put a budget that you want to stay within without going over. But I've listed some stuff below that I personally thought was 'cheap' when google searching 'android gaming tablet 2019' and 'budget android gaming tablets'. I kept pricing under $300, hope that helps best of luck to you.

Dragon Touch K10 - $109 on Amazon right now, probably the cheapest tablet I've found again like most other Android tablets. I don't know how well it'll do for gaming. But you can search for reviews on YouTube about the device and come to a conclusion.

Fire HD 10 - $149.99 on Amazon, you can install the Google Play Store on it, if it's any good for running games that I don't know. But there are guides (you can google them) that tell you how to install the Google Play Store.

Lenovo Smart Tab M10 - $179.99 on Lenovo's website, again not sure how well it will do for gaming. But I'm sure if you search YouTube you will find reviews on the device, and can come to your own conclusion.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 - $219 on Amazon, don't know much about this tablet if it's good for gaming or not. But you can search YouTube for it. I'm sure you will find a few reviews on it.

Apple iPad 6th Gen (Latest Model) - Amazon has it on sale for $249, regular price is $329.99. Great device (I own one it runs games buttery smooth), will last you years definitely worth getting I'd even recommend getting the 128GB Storage Model if it's in your price range.

Pretty damn good deal for the latest iPad.

latest model of the ipad is only 250, it’s on sale, and it runs zwift quite well.

So, I had a iPad mini version 2 that was struggling in 5v5 the last few updates. I was getting a lot of frame rate drops and occasional crashes until this update happened. With this update I couldn't even get through a 5v5 game without a crash. I was very frustrated to say the least but I decided it was time to upgrade. Do I wish I didn't have to? Of course... Do I wish the game was better optimized for my old iPad? Yes, but what you gonna do?

So I went to Amazon and got this Apple iPad (Wi-Fi, 32GB) - Space Gray (Latest Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BTS2KWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_isDWCb308W1KF

The game plays perfectly now. And as a bonus my first rank game got me back into VG.

The 2018 iPad is currently available on Amazon for the cheapest I’ve seen. See here for the space grey version. That being said, the laminated display really is a pleasure to write and draw on. I’m not sure how much the refurbished iPad Pro you are looking at costs, but if it is close in price, I recommend the new iPad Air as a consideration.

The only one I can recommend in the $250 range is the base model iPad. It plays everything well and runs laps around Android tablets in the same price range: https://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPad-WiFi-Space-Model/dp/B07BTS2KWK

The Ipad frequently is on sale for $249 and then you don't have the risk of buying from an unknown seller. And a lot of people get 5% off at Amazon with their credit card. Yours won't have any remaining manufacture warranty. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPad-WiFi-Space-Model/dp/B07BTS2KWK

I see! It depends what notetaking software you use.

iPad solution: I would suggest this stand with an apple pencil compatible iPad. This one is only $250 and is compatible with the apple pencil. However, think about how you're going to have to load the lectures onto the iPad.

You can probably manage it on the iPad, but you're going to need to access the lecture through your email/online student center which could get difficult on the ipad.

A 2-in-1 laptop is a more elegant solution. You can download the lecture from wherever it comes from, then switch the laptop into a tablet and place it on the stand. Check out this summary by wirecutter on the best 2-in-1 laptop solutions.

Hope that helps

If that's alright with you can you post it again but using this link?

https://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPad-WiFi-Space-Model/dp/B07BTS2KWK? It should be the normal/non-referral and should show a price of 250 as well (let me know if that's right).

Not sure if this is the one you're talking about but I got my girlfriend this iPad for her birthday.

I am not a huge Apple fan but this thing is great for only $250:

What if i got the Samsung Tab S4 with S Pen for $434? the iPad with the Apple Pen is $400. Which do you recommend? I got no apple products btw. The new ipad air is 499 but i would still need to get the pen making it around $700 with tax.

I use an iPad Pro in the classroom along with an Apple Pencil. I broadcast to my Windows machine using Airserver Universal which has a one time cost of $12. You have to ensure the iPad and Windows machine are connected to the same network for them to see each other. The least expensive setup would be the 6th gen iPad ([$249 32gb on Amazon](Apple iPad (Wi-Fi, 32GB) - Space Gray (Latest Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BTS2KWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_76ztDbC4HHW7Y)) [and the Logitech Crayon $49 on Amazon.](Logitech Crayon for iPad (6th Gen), iPad Air (3rd Gen) and iPad Mini (5th Gen) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JFP5G4L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_d8ztDbPQH0A7X). I also use a wireless keyboard with included trackpad when I need to access Windows apps.
