The absolute madman!

No but honestly I like this idea. I think you could have 2 different styles, a "stalker" and "Interloper" style - With Stalker you would get some preparedness, while Interloper would be mostly scavenging based.

Say for instance, on Stalker - You get an axe, hunting knife, Fire striker, Ushanka, Balaclava/scarf to cover the neck and face that isn't protected by the Ushanka (That Ushanka is rated for upwards of -40c/-40f), insulated boots or hiking boots, woolen thermal undergarments, a sweater, Jacket (US M65 Cold Weather Field Jackets are pretty good down to near negative Fahrenheit/-18c), Milsurp Winter Weather gloves, snow pants and 2 pairs of wool socks. 2 canteens with a capacity of 1 liter (0.26 gallons each) and 3 days worth of MRE's. And maybe a sleeping bag.

That's enough clothing to avoid frostbite/hypothermia if you don't sleep in the open, and food/water to get you some time to find things, but not enough that it'd be a "camping" trip.
