ARCTIC MX-2 (8 Grams) (Previous Edition) - Thermal Compound Paste, Carbon Based High Performance, Heatsink Paste, Thermal Compound CPU for All Coolers, Thermal Interface Material
WELL PROVEN QUALITY: The design of our thermal paste packagings has changed several times, the formula of the composition has remained unchanged, so our MX pastes have stood for high qualityHIGH PERFORMANCE: With excellent temperature reduction performance, the MX-2 is ideal for CPU and GPU cooling, and other applications between power semiconductor components and heatsinksSAFE APPLICATION: The MX-2 is metal-free and non-electrical conductive which eliminates any risks of causing short circuit, adding more protection to the CPU and VGA cardsHIGH DURABILITY: In contrast to metal and silicon thermal compound, the MX-2 does not compromise over time. Once applied, you do not need to apply it again as it will last at least for 8 yearsEASY TO APPLY: With an ideal consistency, the MX-2 is very easy to use, even for beginners

You can do it with only a shitty Phillips Head TBH and Check out This MX-2 for a cheaper alternative. When applying TP keep in mind that you only need enough to form a thin conductive layer between plates, so a fairly small sized drop will do (Half a Garden Pea in size will do like this)

Hey MrSpazomo! Thanks for the reply and things to check! I did try to provide as much information as possible at the time :) I'll answer as many as I can now, and will come back to you on the cabling.

----

  1. I would want to believe that I did, but I can't be certain. I'll come back to you on this one. Where would it be, out of curiosity, or would it be obvious?

  2. I ordered this ARCTIC MX-2 Paste and used it, perhaps I should try cleaning and re-applying it (if I can find it again...)

  3. Is there any recommended Cooler I should look into for this Chip?

  4. I have Bitdefender Total Security installed, but I don't have Malwarebytes. I'll install it and see what it finds.

  5. I'm almost certain I made sure they were all secured & tight, but I'll check again as you can never be too sure.

  6. I did tighten it quite a bit, perhaps this is my issue. When I re-apply the paste I'll try leaving a bit looser.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

So I’ve got it booted up with one stick of RAM and I’ve ordered a thermal paste which arrives on Friday.

That’s the paste I went for.

I’ll quickly do another bench mark to see if the RAM is improved
