I don't use cases, but I did start using a screen protector (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWEQKZO) after I saw some scratches on my watch. I absolutely hate this kind of screen protector on a phone and have always preferred to use glass screen protectors.
However, after months of using it on my watch, I came to the conclusion that I really like it. My biggest gripe with this type of screen protector was the way it feels when you slide your finger on it, but I rarely need to make this kind of gestures on the watch, since my interactions with it are mostly limited to tapping, scrolling with the Digital Crown and talking with Siri.
I really like the Armor Suit screen protector. Once its installed, I barely notice that its even there.

There are screen protectors that cover the whole screen. I use this one but it's not perfect and you'll occasionally need to replace the protector when it starts peeling on the corners. There's many others like it too.

I only use cases/bumpers to protect the sides of the watch from cosmetic scratches and dents. Another bonus is that they can prevent the edges of screen protectors from peeling up. It's an acquired taste, but I'm a total klutz and bang my watch on doors and walls all the time. There's loads of similar ones, but these have mostly positive reviews and I've used them a lot.
This is the bumper I use and I prefer clear in order to "mostly" keep the original look of the watch and occasionally black. Never use the other colors and I wish they made more neutral colors like gray.

This is a bulkier case that that I sometimes use that may offer a little screen protection (just guessing but could be wrong) at the cost of making the watch look uglier.
