What's worse is laptops with an RTX 2080 that look thin and house a high end CPU.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-Validated-i7-8750H-Pro-GX701GX-XS76/dp/B07M9SN4CD/ref=sr_1_50?keywords=nvidia+rtx+2080+laptop&qid=1568861933&sr=8-50

Like that's a near 200W GPU, that might be fine for desktops and maybe bulky laptops with aggressive cooling solutions but it's not for thin laptops at all.

It's a very good laptop with a good cooling system however I have a couple of cons

1- One of the 2 Ram slots is soldered so the max memory is 24GB and it has one storage slot as well .

2- It has a small battery

3- the GPU is the Max Q version

Now if you are okay with that the I7-8750H version is much cheaper and it should be very close in performance .

Another good option you should consider is the MSI GE75 this has the full RTX 2080, up to 64GB of RAM and a few storage options or the Omen by HP 2019 17 same specs with Gysnc and a thunderbolt 3 port .

A $3k laptop is also ridiculously top-tier, with stats equivalent to a desktop. I bought a $3299 laptop for someone at work recently and the thing is just kinda ridiculously overpowered.

Think with the liquid cooling option it may run a bit more silently? Also though there is a big price difference does this computerthat’s coming out in a few days look appealing at all or not really worth the cost difference?

Hey, I was just looking at that yesterday (same price on Amazon) and trying to decide if I should bite or not! The G703GX is heavily discounted, as is this G701:

https://smile.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-Validated-i7-8750H-Pro-GX701GX-XS76/dp/B07M9SN4CD/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=asus+zephyrus+s+gx701&qid=1574000969&sr=8-3

So, between the G703GX and the G701, what are people's thoughts? One is a tank and real desktop replacement, one is more mobile. Is there a clear choice between them beyond whether mobility matters to a person?

The G703GX is slightly more upgradable, no?

Hi, for a good 17.3" device, the Sager NP7876 is a super good value. If you want the best possible performance, maybe consider the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701.

Look at the ASUS and Alienware laptops in your price range. Make sure and get a RTX2080, plenty of SSD. Stay away from 4k, look for a monitor at 1440p or 1080p monitory at or above 144hz.
