Built my second PC recently with a 1080 but I game a lot less than I used to and I'm really starting to realize that. I have two 4k monitors which make browsing the web and listening to music an even more enticing experience than it used to be and so I'm not using the potential of the 1080 at all.
My main usage scenario is music production so gaming isn't a huge deal, but I still want to be able to run both monitors at 4k60 over two displayport cables. If I decide to game here and there, I'm more than fine playing games in 1080p.
Would this GTX 1060 (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1JTCZS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) be a good card for using two monitors at 4k60 for everyday tasks and music production, and occasionally gaming at 1080? I know some cards/connection standards only allow 4k30 and I'm not sure if this one them lol. Thanks in advance guys!
The main issue is getting the card to stay in there without moving, sagging, or making contact with the motherboard. I cut out some foam and used some double-sided tape to keep it in there. The card is a reference one, more specifically this card
>Hi, just went on amazon, ending up impulsively buying an Asus 1060 6GB Turbo for $270 with a $10 rebate. For the past few months I've been waiting for prices to deflate, and although this is better than paying $600, is this a good price? Should I cancel? Thanks!

What is the difference between this 1060 turbo and this 1060 "dual 6g" other then price? Which should I go for?
I bought this https://www.amazon.com/Geforce-Turbo-Auto-Extreme-Graphics-TURBO-GTX1060-6G/dp/B01K1JTCZS/ref=sr_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479830589&sr=1-14&keywords=gtx+1060
back in september. Best purchase I ever made. Easily getting stable 60fps on everything on ultra settings on 1080p.
You can use it for 4k too but dont expect 60fps.
Yes, the slim Alienware x51 R2 is a good candidate for the 75-Watt GTX 1050 Ti, or any mid-range card. If you go with something more powerful, like the 120-Watt GTX 1060 6 GB, you should choose a blower-style (AKA reference/founders) video card.

The blower cooler is needed because the case only has a single 60 mm ventilation fan. Many owners have also upgraded the 60 mm fan to a high-quality Noctua unit. This does take a lot of screwdriver work, but it lowers noise while increasing air flow. Some have said the case does not need any more airflow.

With higher-powered cards, over 120 watts, you will need to get the larger power brick. Most x51 R2s came with the 240-something Watt wall-power adapter, but the most powerful cards came with a 330 Watt adapter.
If you wanted to choose a video card that was more powerful, up to 190 Watts that the GTX 760 Ti used, I would be sure to have the more powerful wall adapter. This would include the RX570/GTX 1080 at 180 Watts, but would not include the Vega/GTX 1080 Ti at 215 Watts.

What about this? Can I buy this and use it with the current wattage I have?
It pulls 150W

Is the second card worth the extra ten dollars? Or does anyone suggest a different 1060 at a similar price point?

Is what it is, lasted me a good 4 years of hard gaming. Sad to see it go, someone just posted this on the /buildapc sub, https://www.amazon.com/Geforce-Turbo-Auto-Extreme-Graphics-TURBO-GTX1060-6G/dp/B01K1JTCZS/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&dpID=519BSaxF9wL&dpPl=1&keywords=1060&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&qid=1500135035&ref=plSrch&ref_=mp_s_a_1_9&sr=8-9#nav-search-keywords
I may jump on that
Thanks for commenting. I’m thinking these for the RAM and GPU. I shouldn’t run into any problems with wiring/connections/fit should I?

Which is more recommended, the one of closed fan, that fits without modifying anything, or the one of 2 fans, uncovered, but it has to remove the front fan, is for an X51 R1 and why?

Well a few months ago you could have gotten a 980 for under $300, but with the video card shortage, prices are just insane everywhere. Plus that is a used card. I might consider a new 1060 for $250 instead even if it is a single fan card.

Who's getting one?
OK, awesome. So something like this or this should do the trick?
USA For me, but I think it's safe to assume the one highlighted in question you are referring to is this one correct?
