Asus VE247H and NVIDIA 660 3GB Overclocked. I thought I'd need a second GPU to run a third monitor but then i found out 600 series can handle 3/4 monitors from one GPU :)

ASUS is an excellent brand. My only question: what in the heck are you doing over at NewEgg?

Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VE247H-24-Inch-Integrated-Speakers/dp/B004EFUOY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343856385&sr=8-1&keywords=24+inch+asus

____

You can get LED monitors on PRIME and with integrated speakers for far cheaper than those LCD monitors. Also, they look to be last-gen tech. Either way you'll likely get a reliable piece of hardware, but in this day and age it seems silly to NOT get an LED monitor.

Note how the first one you linked uses "LED" in its title because it has LED backlighting, but is in fact an LCD monitor. That's shady advertising and NewEgg makes no effort to teach its buyers that.

____

More advice: if you don't NEED integrated speakers for a shoe-string budget build, use external speakers. They will be much higher quality. And then you can save on the price of the monitor itself.

_____

Some core differences among monitors:

  1. MS response time. (How many milliseconds does it take for a pixel to change?)
  2. Color number (how many colors can it display?)
  3. TN vs. IPS (fast and low-quality vs. slow and high-quality --- gamers use TN, designers use IPS)
  4. LED vs. LCD (LED is newer. Colors last longer and don't burn out. Whole unit runs cooler and is usually much thinner.)
  5. Size. The bigger the more expensive, but keep things in perspective. A 27 inch TN panel could be as cheap as 200-230 dollars, but it won't give you great color clarity or speed. However a 23 inch IPS monitor could run you 350 dollars and if you aren't doing design work you wouldn't know the difference.
  6. Brands. ASUS is great. Samsung is great. Stick with them if you can. HP offers some amazing high-clarity high-cost high-res monitors that most of us can only dream about. If you ever need an absolutely absurd high-end monitor: those are your best bet.
u/Slippaz86 · 3 pointsr/MvC3

Other people can say what they use, but for the lower budget ones this is a solid choice: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004EFUOY4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_5tWMub179HV31

I know a number of people with it and they've never had any problems. I was having the same issue you were on a 30ms HDTV (which is pretty low for a random TV I didn't buy with latency in mind). The monitor makes a big difference, and besides making things easier for your brain to sort out, it'll eliminate the "lag" excuse and help you identify exactly what happened when you messed up in a competitive setting.

u/Captain_Midnight · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Well, two reasons. One, Crossfire scales better than SLI. If you're set on two cards, I'd get a pair of 6950s for ~$450 total and receive about 95% of the performance of a pair of 570s at $636. The difference is a high-grade SSD or 24-inch monitor.

Two, a pair of 560 Tis will also cost you hundreds of dollars less while satisfying pretty much every performance scenario that a single monitor will encounter. You can a pair of those for as low as $410 after rebate, saving you $225 to spend elsewhere, like a 128GB SSD.

is that '09 model? all aluminium ones can drive 1440p im almost sure

for cheap 1080p panels I don't think you can do much better than this ASUS. Wirecutter recommends it too.

Mine does 75 Hz at any resolution besides 1920x1080p could I do it safely? This is my monitor if it helps

Anything thats at its lowest price at Amazon and follows the other rules (10 reviews, 3.5 stars, atleast 10% off the normal price)

Here's an example

> I think the "only amazon products are allowed" is hampering the growth of this subreddit. Just my two cents.

The only reason that other sites are not allowed is because there aren't that many price tracking tools available for them

The ASUS VE247H 23.6" is around $150 on amazon. It's a great monitor. It has a fast grey-to-grey response time of 2ms to reduce motion blur. It has an EXCELLENT input lag of only 11ms (rated on displaylag.com).

I use the BenQ RL2455HM but there are some other decent options to like the ASUS VE247H or the ASUS VS248H, All these monitors are full 1080p, 60FPS, Have HDMI inputs, Fairly cheap yet exceptionally good console gaming.

What kind of gaming? Because if you want something designed specifically for fast, blur-free gaming (FPS, fighting games, etc) under $150, TN panels are about your only option. The issue is the viewing angles and colors aren't as good as an IPS display like the one you linked to. Something like this may be the best "gaming" monitor you can get at that price, because of the 2ms response time:

Whats the best monitor i can get for £100/$130?
Going to be used for General use, gaming, and producing music

u/DrazV2 · 1 pointr/PS4

Hmm... Looks quite expensive though, there are many cheaper 1080p 24'' HDMI monitors with headphone input.

For example, this Asus monitor I'm using right now on PS4 with an AUX cord for sound

Edit: Link fixed, the right model is Asus VE247H

Seems like a solid monitor for the price since you're not to concerned about refresh rate or things like that. Maybe someone here may know a bit more about it though; but like $89 after rebates, maybe worth a punt.

Hello guys,

I have a 17 inch laptop and I want to get a new monitor. I will use the new monitor as the main monitor for my laptop, and plug a Nintendo Switch to it.

The important stuffs:

  • Purchasing in Canada (I only looked at Amazon.ca, any other good alternatives?)

  • I think I want an IPS but not fully decided

  • No need for G-Sync/FreeSync; but need HDMI (laptop constraints)

  • Looking for 1080p60 (cant output any higher)

  • Since I will use it for both PC and Switch, I was thinking that having 2 HDMI inputs on the monitor would be great, but not necessary.

  • Main use: Gaming (Dota, Civ, Many Indies, Nothing too demanding)

  • Secondary use: Media, Web (TV Shows & Movies all in 1080p, Reddit, Essay Writing)

  • Budget: $150-$300

Got these on my list so far: ASUS VS248H-P, ASUS VS239H-P, BenQ GL2460HM, Acer S241HL, ASUS VE247H

Any help would be greatly appriciated :)

    Thank you!

This is the new model of my monitor.

Its not IPS and isn't crazy but the build quality is amazing.

Mechanical Keyboards are too expensive for me to recommend as a starting point. However I can never go back to any other keyboard tbh.

Anything Logitech for Keyboard and Mouse should be good. Never had issues with Asus or Logitech products. Just my experience.

u/JonzieK · 1 pointr/buildapc

I've been using two http://www.amazon.com/VE248H-1920x1080-DVI-D-Back-lit-Monitor/dp/B0043T7FHK/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457634314&sr=1-3&keywords=asus+VE247H of these with a Samsung in my triple monitor setup, no problems and they're about 2 years old now.

Found this for a bit cheaper http://www.amazon.com/VE247H-1920x1080-DVI-D-Back-lit-Monitor/dp/B004EFUOY4 and would probably be just as good.

No experience with Lenovo but that's a 7ms display and you don't want to go above 5ms for gaming.

u/Exenith_ · 1 pointr/computers

I've done extensive research on Gaming Monitors and I would recommend this one, actually I recommend ordering two of them for the best experience. https://www.amazon.ca/VE247H-24-Inch-Backlight-Integrated-Speakers/dp/B004EFUOY4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_3&smid=A19N3NI8X4F24J

If you already have the motherboard you may as well keep it. The difference between the 6600k and 6500 isn't very significant in games. I put the 1070 in as it is very capable at 1440p in case you wanted to upgrade plus I'm not sure how VR is going to advance. It is very possible that games will get more intensive and end up going beyond the 970/290 minimum spec, but we won't know for sure until it happens. The monitor recommendation is the Asus VE247H and this stand.

u/lotsoftuna · 1 pointr/zenfone2

I can wholeheartedly agree with you on your comparison of ASUS product ranges. I own an ASUS monitor (VE247H, or some variant letter, it's weird) and I've never had any problems with it, and am still using it right now. Fantastic monitor delivering awesome performance for the price I got it at, with amazing colours, brightness and overall production (especially compared to using a CRT for 10+ years).

As I did mention before, personally I don't mind not having updates, albeit perhaps I'm missing out on something, but I 100% agree with you in that what ASUS is doing (ignoring customers and not providing dates/more info) is totally wrong, rude and definitely inexcusable. I don't see why they can't just provide a simple update notice, as you mentioned.

Dunno what my next phone will be, but something with physical hardware buttons... or at least pseudo. Most likely not another ASUS. Can't even think about getting another new phone since I'm sure this one will last me a while.

u/JangXa · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm looking into buying a second monitor. I have this one for a few years. My build is a i5 7500/rx480 setup. I want to stay at 1080p, but thinking about getting a freesynch monitor. I read here that it is great, but I'm not sure if they are worth it. I could get a higher refresh rate monitor without freesynch for pretty cheap like this one.

Any recommendations?
