The simplest solution is to pick up an adapter like This USB to 3.5mm jack. Use the adapter for Headphones/Speakers and the 3.5mm on the back of the MOBO for the other. Then you can simply switch output devices in the sound toolbar in windows.

I won't use one of these just to use my headphones: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

You could use a USB to 3.5mm dongle and switch output in realtek https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

I did what you did and searched my way through reddit. Messaged a few people, and the one person that messaged me back with a resolution showed me this little usb dongle with a powered mic in port. I was actually gonna buy something like a soundblaster g5 until he showed me this, and it actually works quite well. It elimintates most, if not all static.

Huh. Do you have a setting on your computer that lets you flip the left and right sound? I know my computer's audio driver had a setting like that. You could try and find out if you have a setting like that. Could save you the trouble. Stupid question to end with: did you have your headphones on the proper way?

Otherwise there is this. Should work I guess.... https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

Haven't played the game myself so I don't know if this would suffice, but you could just hook up an audio cable to your computer and record via analog. It's not 100% accurate (compared to digital), but you probably won't be able to tell the difference unless you're an audio engineer by trade.

If your PC has a microphone jack, you can use a double male 3.5mm audio cable, also available from your local electronics store. Audacity is a free and fairly powerful audio editing program you can use to record and clean up the samples, if needed.

If you don't have a mic plug, you can buy a cheap USB adapter like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC
https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Headphone-Microphone-Aluminum-Compatibility/dp/B00NMXY2MO

I don't know if microphone jacks are necessarily made for this though, so as a precaution you'll want to keep your PC's microphone auto gain controls and stuff all disabled, and keep your Vita audio very low at first, record, then work up from there. I doubt there'd be any overload problems, but at the very least you want to keep the audio volume from clipping, and you can always adjust volume and such in Audacity.

Unless there's some export function, the only other way to get the music out perfectly would be to download the ROM and hack into it, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth.

As far as copyright goes, as long as you own the game, nobody's going to really care if you do this for personal use.

This is the one I bought at first; it worked great until the wire started wearing out in a few months. Then I got this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=pd_sim_23_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00IRVQ0F8&pd_rd_r=2T2QS7R59SH47NNQZA5K&pd_rd_w=FdmbH&pd_rd_wg=FCPlj&psc=1&refRID=2T2QS7R59SH47NNQZA5K

I got it since it had no wire, but I can't really recommend it as it made my volume weirdly high. I have it set on 1 in Windows (where I would have it on 20 before) and it's just as loud as it would have been on 20.

EDIT: Also note if you use Asio4All drivers, you'll also have to make it the default in the driver settings too.

There are plenty of cheap USB to 3.5mm products available. I'd steer away from the generic Chinese knockoff brands, and go with a brand name model. I used to use the Griffin iMic with no issues for a couple years, but Audio Technica makes one as well which is a bit cheaper.

use to get audio in to your mac:

be sure to change the audio in the quicktime settings so it comes from the usb.

Are you looking for a cable for headphones or for power?

The cable you linked is for power and I think if it is for power it will have that pin in it regardless.

If you are looking for headphones I think you would need something like this

I've seen this before. There's probably an additional pink microphone jack on the back of your computer. Does the microphone work there?

A lot of times the front panels are cheaply made. Either the headers (wires that connect to the motherboard) are loose or the components are broken in some other way.

If the back panel works, extension cords for that type of thing are cheap. Worst case scenario you could always get something like this -- https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

Which is basically a cheap sound card.

A splitter might not have enough power to properly amplify the microphone, thus lack of pickup. I'd recommend a 3.5 to USB adapter like this

I've looked into using a similar setup on PS4. It is possible to get game audio through your headphones while using a mic plugged in though the controller. However the PS4 will try to play all incoming chat back through the microphone, thinking it's a headset. So you can talk to everyone else, but you can't hear them, which is a bit of a problem.

There are two relatively straight-forward ways to fix this, both involving using an adapter to 'trick' the PS4 into thinking your mic+headphones are one device. The first method uses a 3.5mm y-adapter which you then plug into the headphone jack on the DS4. The alternative method uses a usb to 3.5mm adapter, which you the plug into a USB port on the PS4. In either method you just plug in your headphones and mic into the adapter, and it should work as you would expect.

Both of these methods will let you hear both game and incoming chat through your headphones, while using a separate mic. Keep in mind however that you'll likely need an amplifier to take full advantage of your m50x's.

Quick disclaimer; I haven't actually used either of these methods, this is all just information I picked up while researching this a couple months ago, so I don't know how well they actually work when it comes to volume levels or whatever. If you want more info, here is a head-fi forum post on the subject.

Thanks, I have downloaded and installed all 3 drivers, but this did not resolve my audio problems, they still occur.

My generic HD Audio is now a Realtex High Definition Audio running version: 6.0.1.7560

I think my next step is going to be to purchase a USB to 3.5mm jack converter and see if that works for me. https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

u/forsayken · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I read a few other comments and while it does sound like it's an issue with the front panels, being forced to use only the rear output is annoying.

But it's been a year. Your system basically went from new to outdated in the time they fucked you over. The amount of lost time with hardware while it was new is extremely unfair to me.

At this point, I know it sucks, but if I were you, I'd just go USB. You can even get USB->3.5mm adapters.

https://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-ATR2USB-0-13-Audio-Adapter/dp/B00I6ILPPC

This will allow you to connect your devices at the front of the system (in the USB ports).

Thanks for sharing this. Reinforces the opinion most of us here have that Alienware is a hard pass when it comes to pre-built options.

What about this. Audio-Technica ATR2USB 3.5mm to USB Audio Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I6ILPPC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HNgoDbFJR30DN

So use a mic with 3.5 and put a splitter right before the mic input. One goes to your PS4 and one goes to the Mixer?

u/Fadeout4 · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

Oh huh, that's an interesting idea. I didn't think of using the stick in legacy mode. Do you happen to know if that causes any extra input latency?

One other question: if I wanted to use my headphones AND microphone, both of which have 3.5mm jacks, could I use something like this?

I wouldn't recommend this one. It works but there is a slight buzz when there is no audio playing. Unless I had a defective one or something.
