I did not post this on Macro Monday for a couple reasons: 1) this photo was not taken with a "real" camera and macro lens, but rather with a Pixel XL and an Aukey Ora macro lens, and 2) the Aukey lens didn't arrive until Tuesday :)

Here is the Sea-Gull ST2153 movement in my Bogalelon. Side story: I took it in to a local watch repair place (first result for "cheap chinese watch repair" in my area, heh) to figure out why the watch kept losing time or stopping overnight. He ran some tests on it and determined the likely cause of the was that the movement is dirty. However, he also recommended against servicing it, as it would be about $220 (not worth it for a $250 watch, obviously). Instead, he told me to keep wearing it, and maybe it'll improve over time.

He also said the watch and movement were really well built and identified it nearly immediately as a Breguet homage without me saying anything. I like this guy; I think I'll take any future "real" watch to him for servicing.

The aukey clip on lense works decently. It's a two in one.

Wide angle

Macro lense

edit:

here's the Amazon link. Currently around $20.

I got the Aukey lense:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01D8KOAWM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478445662&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=aukey+lense&dpPl=1&dpID=41teZb%2BUa4L&ref=plSrch

Haven't used this on the Pixel, still waiting for my order, but I had it on my note 7. It was honestly amazing and gave me great wide angle capability. I didn't really use it for the macro lense but it worked excellently.

It's compatible with just about any phone. Let me know if you want me to upload an imgur album with some of the pictures I've taken with the lense attached.

[Here it is!] (http://imgur.com/a/3YNBf)

You may notice many of these images have a slight cut off towards the right of the screen, this is simply because the Note 7's camera was really far down the device and the lens wasn't able to reach all the way down.

Have you tried the cheapie little clip-on "macro" lenses for your phone? I was skeptical but I got a set on sale on Amazon Prime Day, and it works surprisingly well for reducing the minimum focus distance. Using mine on an iPhone and have gotten pretty good results for a $20 toy from China. For something this size you should be able to get a decent amount of detail.

This kind of thing (Amazon Link)

Wide angle lenses that attach to cellphone cameras are really cheap and may allow you to turn your camera sideways at the same distance you're filming out now but keep your whole body in the frame, just an idea. Here's the first one that came up on Amazon when I searched for an example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D8KOAWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_lSiSzbA1SYX5G

I haven't bought this yet, but I'm planning on buying it soon, it looks promising.

A search for Aukey Macro Lens on Amazon will do the job. The below is in India.

I got one of these a short time ago. It's a little bulky but it works just fine.

Believe it or not this was with one of those really cheap 10x clip on macro lenses clipped on an LG V20. I couldn't believe how well it worked tbh. The downsides are it has very shallow DoF and focuses like 0.5" away so you have to practically touch what you're taking a picture of. I was surprised he didn't jump away.

I'm not sure if this is the exact one but it looks right. The one I have has 3 lenses and 2 of them are useless but the 10x macro is fun.

Something to this effect: https://www.amazon.com/iPhone-Camera-Samsung-Android-Smartphones/dp/B01D8KOAWM/ref=pd_lpo_107_bs_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MJJW0JMTPQ488305HEWZ

There's a ton of budget clip on lenses out there, with varying degrees of quality. Forget which brand I ended up with. The quality is nowhere near a nice camera with a dedicated macro lens, but this gets the job done.

If you're willing to spend extra and have an iPhone there are more impressive options.

Thanks!
It was just my iPhone 6 and the macro lens from kit below. You have to get really close :)

You might take a look at this one:

I don't really know if it's better or worse, but if you want to try it out, we could compare results.

I was at an Apple Store and saw something like this being sold that advertised "no chromatic aberration" (meaning no odd coloration in the corners of the images). However that item cost $200!

Edit: here's some pics a redditor took with the Aukey

It's a fun hike with some good views, and there is some amazing plant life there!

Pictures taken with a Pixel and Aukey lenses - these are really fun to play around with.
