Most NFC sticker should work, just one that doesn’t already have data written to it that performs actions.

Are used these NFC stickers. They are pretty small the size of a quarter and I’m going to upgrade to some bigger ones because it’s hard to hit the target with these:

They work great overall.

These white stickers have a much bigger target, but do not purchase them unless you have a NFC reader/writer. They have a URL encoded so it opens a webpage every time you tap it to the iPhone. But the shortcut will still run. I reformatted them to be blank.
This is to give you an example of what I mean by data already encoded

With iOS 13 and iPhone XS you will be able to write to NFC tags. No doubt there will Be a ton of great apps that let you encode tags.

If you want to start writing tags on your Mac or windows device now, purchase this reader/writer. Then on Mac use the app NFC ideas.

I'm gonna pick these up, seem to have good reviews. I'm not sure what really separates NFC NTAG types though.

I just bought these. I haven't tested them yet though. But there is at least one review where someone uses them for Smart Lock.

having issues with NXP tagwriter or the tag itself, I bought these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B015UMPVNI/ today and trying to format them in NXP tag writer with my Nexus 6. I've tried the URL/URI link option but the my XS max does not automatically read them. I have to use the NXP tagwriter or NFC reader app for it to recognize the tags. Am I missing something or just chose the wrong NFC tags?

My URI is formatted like this:

Title: Title

URI: shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=[shortcut]

It doesn't like the URL option it says "Invalid URL Prefix, so it formats in URI

I tried the text option as well

I don't seem to get it to get the dropdown that asks to run the shortcut

EDIT: NVM figured it out, you have to leave the Title out of it, it is only the URI text, if you have title info it doesn't get the dropdown automatically...

So its Link > URI Type > URI: shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=[shortcut] and make sure Description is left blank! all other options are default
