In Chapter 6 of my book, Beginning Ubuntu for Windows and Mac Users, I introduce apt as the way to install software from the command line. The callout says:

  Not only is the command shorter (and therefore a bit easier to read for nervous command line users), but it also has pretty output, and that can be reassuring. Me, I just like the status bar.
