I've been looking at setups myself. I like being able to fade the vocals in and out as needed to help some people out.

Karafun is a subscription service you can look at. All the songs are covers so they aren't exactly the same. You have total control and can fade vocals and backups as needed. I use it on a second monitor on a tripod. It requires an internet connection, or songs can be downloaded in advance. I've had no trouble running from my 4G LTE hotspot.

Behringer has a mixer that claims to cancel vocals in real time. I've never used it since the Karafun setup works for me. Check it out here: Behringer Minimix Mix800 Ultra-Compact Karaoke Machine with Voice Canceller and FX. You'll need to get your own songs with the lyrics timecoded. Virtual DJ can do this.

Echo effects also make singers sound better. You can use the effects processor in your mixer if available.

I found this bad boy which I can hook up to my receiver: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Minimix-Ultra-Compact-Karaoke-Canceller/dp/B000H2BCQ2

The problem is how can I add the laptop music to the output of this machine so both are heard at the same time?
