Besides all the standard biographies, I read this book recently, and it’s pretty interesting. It’s sort of like a biography crossed with a psychological analysis. TL;DR: he was fundamentally paranoid and power hungry, which affected every aspect of his being and eventually caused his downfall. I do think it’s a little too forgiving of him, though, and it barely glosses over the War on Drugs and the Southern Strategy. But it is a really cool insight into what his thought process looked like, and how he got himself into Watergate.

As for the story that had me going “no fucking way”, When a Candidate Conspired With a Foreign Power to Win An Election. Not a book, but a long piece by Politico. Not a lot of people know the story behind Nixon sabotaging peace talks to win the 1968 election. It makes Trump’s collusion look almost acceptable by comparison. At least we weren’t literally at war with Russia at the time.

Listening to Being Nixon: A Man Divided and his Checker's Speech was described as being mawkish.

There have been some great Nixon books out lately, and another one in March. HIGHLY recommend everyone read up on Nixon's administration. It's very applicable.
