For the most part, I just smoked some weed to distract the pain and studied for as long as I could. I don't suggest you follow in my footsteps, though. In hindsight, I would choose some more productive ways to make it through a study sesh.

  • Get yourself an ice pack that can wrap around your neck. It's very soothing when you have an attack.
  • Menthol cream like Biofreeze isn't necessarily supposed to be used on your head, but I've been putting the gel on my forehead, temples and neck for years now to get some much needed relief during a migraine. Depends on the person, but I usually get a 30 minute break from pain so I can focus on whatever I need to.
  • Take a long, relaxing shower. Keep your head under the water for a generous amount of time. Maybe you want to do it before you start studying so you start out strong, or perhaps you take a break at the halfway point so you can refresh before the last leg. I always feel good during and just after a shower when I have a migraine.
  • And lastly, don't stress yourself out too much. I know I did and it just made my migraines worse. I would freak out over not being able to prepare for an exam or not have enough time to finish a project, but it's not the end all be all. As long as you don't completely give in to the migraines, it'll be okay.
