Ooooh, girl. You need to be using sunscreen all day every day. The long term photo damage you WILL be doing to your skin is not worth the benefit that you will have from using it short term.
Try the biore watery essence. It has alcohol which might dry you out so I use it over moisturizer in the morning and sometimes reapply multiple times depending on what I’m doing.

I spent some time in Japan recently and I would highly recommend asian-made sunscreen.This is the one I bought while I was there, and it's so light, thin, and non-greasy!

This. No white cast, not greasy. Must be reapplied every few hours however since it is not as strong as a lot of the sunscreens you and I both hate :)

I have oily/sensitive skin and Reddit really recommended this and I love it. I live in Florida where it's hot and humid and it doesn't make me sweat. It is creamy and milky and sets on my skin all day. Highly recommend.

I highly, highly recommend sunscreen for everybody regardless of race or skin tone. We all need it.

I've been using Nivea Protect Super Water Gel for the last few years and I absolutely love it. It's expensive and you have to wait for shipping, but it's so worth it. It isn't thick/gluey like sunscreens stateside, goes flawlessly under makeup and doesn't give you a white cast on your skin. However, I do think it contains alcohol so if you're sensitive to that it might not be the sunscreen for you. That aside, it's fantastic. It also lacks that cloying coconut-banana smell that almost every sunscreen here has. The bottles are pretty economical too. This two pack lasts me from spring to summer with daily use on my face and neck. I use a cheaper US sunscreen on my arms and legs.

My general rule of thumb is that Asian sunscreens > Western sunscreens. They take sun protection super seriously in the east, so they have it down pat. You may also wanna check out r/asianbeauty for more personalized recommendations.

What kind of skin type do you have in general? I for sure got little bumps over time when I wore some generic Neutrogena sunblock I got from the drugstore* (but it was 100 SPF and that's what makes it more effective right, the higher numbers?? oh foolish, sweet summer child, pre- r/asianbeauty me) but I also tried this LRP and my face didn't really take to it kindly at the start.

If you have very sensitive skin, Elta MD is the way to go. It definitely sinks in lightly and just doesn't feel like anything on your skin after maybe 2-4 minutes.

I really liked my Biore UV Aqua when I had it but I just went through it way too fast. It's the HG for a lot of people in terms of face sunscreen, but I personally can't justify the price, and don't require something with ~superb texture necessarily, since I don't wear makeup often and never wear foundation.

If your skin isn't too too sensitive I would just try different stuff Asian brands out! I've been wanting to try out this COSRX one next.

* Also, make sure to wash it off every night! Doesn't matter if you wore makeup or not, sunscreen you had on all day and got covered in dust/grime = no-no for sleeping with overnight. That's the reason I got little bumps, anyway!

Right now, I think you should just focus on putting together a base routine of cleanser/moisturizer/sunscreen. Here are my recs for each category:

-Cleanser: Check out Vanicream. Almost nobody reacts to this, and it's very affordable.

-Moisturizer: Check out Cerave PM or Vanicream Lite. They're often recommended for oily-skinned folks. Cerave PM also has 4% niacinamide, which helps with oil control and reducing redness.

Sunscreen: Check out Cerave Ultra-Light SPF 30, Biore Watery Essence SPF 50, or Etude House Sunprise SPF 50.

Depends on the seller; there isn't just one person selling on Amazon. This one is legit. More generally when buying online there's always a chance it's fake, so you have to do your due diligence and get recs from people who buy on that website regularly.

More broadly, a lot of the European and Asian sunscreens won't be found anywhere other than online at places like Amazon, Yesstyle, and Ebay because they use filters the FDA has not approved (the FDA has been notoriously slow to update its list of approved filters and it's a sticking point for many people).

I use biore watery essence every single day of my life, and have for years, and I've never had anything weird happen in a photo. I wear it under my makeup. It's also a monster sunblock as not only do I never burn but I don't even get freckles anymore (which I'm sort of sad about, but not getting skin cancer is cuter than freckles).

Physical: Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 broad Spectrum (usually get mine from Sephora, you could also sample this if there is a Sephora near you)

Physical and chemical mixed: Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46 with niacinamide for hyperpigmentation and acne skin. (Available on Amazon but I also found mine locally at a medspa around the corner from my house)

Chemical: Biore UV Aqua SPF 50 PA ++++ (bought this on Amazon in a two pck, but my local Asian beauty store also carries it)

Oooo after getting engaged, I was finally motivated to "treat" myself to a skincare routine. Honestly the two biggest things have been lotion (CeraVe) and sunscreen (Watery Essence). The routine starts at "night" in my mind:

• Splash of water.
  
  
• Wipe with micellular water
  
  
• Splash of water.
  
  
• Tone with witch hazel
  
  
• Exfoliate with salicylic acid
  
  
• Moisturize with lotion
  
  Then in the morning ...
  
  
• Wash face in shower
  
  
• Moisturize again (more CeraVe)
  
  
• SPF++++
  

Oh yeah, definitely wear sunscreen then. I've become a fan of Asian suncreens, and this is the one I use currently. It's kind of expensive and you usually have to wait for it to ship (though I've definitely gotten it in a few days through Prime before). I always used to hate using sunscreen on my face because it was so greasy and smelled like, well, sunscreen and I don't have any of those problems with this one. /r/SkincareAddiction probably has more recommendations, I think that's where I first heard of the Biore one. That's for the face, on the body I'm less picky. Just aim for at least SPF 50 and make sure you get good coverage and actually reapply; I don't now but critical while on Accutane.
