So most dash cams are either 1 CH (Front only) or 2CH (Front/Rear), there is no reason you can't have 2x or 4x 1CH, or 2x 2CH, or any combination really.

There are two types of parking mode:
Example: A119: Automatic engage/disengage, Not buffered, Able to add low voltage cut off feature via hardwire kit. Cheap kits are (preset/unchangeable) voltage only. More expensive kits are (adjustable) Voltage/timer based.

There are also a bunch of trucker cams with 4 channels, weather proof systems, and dvrs with a lot of other options. Generally most people have Front cam (95% of all accidents) , or Front/rear cam (99.9% of all accidents), and people worried about vandals cover the last .1% for 4 CH systems.
Anyways, they also sell battery packs ($150-300 USD) make sure they are rated for the interior of a car in heat.

So you will want to look at temperature ratings for each of the dash cams. Excellent build quality dash cams, generally won't have a problem. However, Fair/Poor build quality dash cams cook.
Absolutely, it really depends on what you want. My first dash cam was the Rexing V1 Dash Cam. It is one of the cheapest on the market that is still very reliable. However, it only covers the front of the car. I recently upgraded to a BlackSys CH-100B. This one is a little bit more expensive, but it comes with a rear camera as well. Blacksys has an app that can connect with the built-in wifi of their cameras that allows you to change settings and review footage from your phone. If you want more information there is a subreddit devoted to dashcams. Hope this helps!

Total was 260 something with prime shipping. Easy to install though I've not hard wired it. Image is pretty good in the day, though night time isn't great and obviously isn't made for an internal car view, though I didn't need one of those.
I was almost ran off the road today and am now working on a compilation of all the bullshit from this month. It's going to take all day probably since i've never used Vegas Pro before. I got it on the Humble Bundle a few months ago and then ran out of hard drive space and couldn't afford a new one until I broke down and just got one today.

Just get a dashcam with a rear cam and parking mode so you'll have their plates and evidence that you can show to the police and your insurance for the hit and run. I just got the BlackSys CH-100B and installation is simple. Use a couple fuse taps to plug it into the fuse box to get parking mode to work. Installation video with a similar dashcam.

this product has inbuilt feature which cuts power to dash cam when it detects voltage dropping below a set threshold. I wonder if that works as expected.
Definitely suggest getting the dual camera setup. This is what I have and I like it.
