Even though one of the other Directors scoffed at it I believe it's a very good book, especially when he talks about focusing on the 'ends' not the 'means', imo the DA focuses too much on the 'means' not the 'ends', i.e. supporting the community as a whole, which includes those not in it yet - presuming diversity & inclusion efforts are to make the community more diverse and inclusive then that must be the case.
That said, according to the Exec Director's podcast interview with jam, you don't get any say in the direction any more, it's your role to assist the DA team implement the already set direction...
We used Carver's "Boards that make a difference" in one of my nonprofit classes in my MPA program. It was a good intro to Boards and Board governance issues.
