Budget: =>$120 Open to a bit higher price if there is a huge upside

Source: LG G2, Surface Pro 3

Requirements for isolation: Good to great Isolation. Needed for school and at home while doing homework.

Preferred type: IEM only...Really need mic built in for taking calls in the middle of listening.

Preferred Tonal Balance: I want something that is well rounded and feels real. I don't like anything with too much bass.

Past Headphones: Bose On Ear http://www.amazon.com/Bose-On-Ear-Headphones-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B002LK2QJK (Love them even now but they are way too bulky and get uncomfortable after a while...Plus I want IEM
Also had MEELectronics A151s. Nice IEM but the Isolation was horrible. Looking for something a bit better.

Music: Just about everything. My main focus is Blues, Rock, Grunge and a bit of country. I really need a well rounded headphone.

Thanks guys. Found my old Bose plug-in headphones and I feel like the DAS was still better. So I'm going in deep and going with the Sennheiser RS 185. I was about to go with the cheaper 175 but it seems like Open back is better and I felt like since the Bose isn't getting the job done, it's gotta be something super high end or just stick with the DAS... so I'm going to see if these 185's are actually worth it!

it was different for me. For me it was just regularly listening to my run of the mill headphones. I knew that some headphones didnt have bass, and some sounded hissy and some sounded bassy and some sounded "flabby", etc. Some broke easy, others didnt. I tried a set of bose on-ears and they sounded nearly identical to a set of Creative EP-630's. The difference was that the EP630 would break no matter what after 3 months, and the bose had lasted my friend for about 2 years so far. I bought the bose after a while and sure enough it lasted me for about 2.5 years before the drivers slowly withered away. I figured I was paying for the durability of headphones, and it was just a matter of finding the right balance of frequencies. Some sounded marginally different than others, but most just straight up sucked. At the end of the day, if you paid X amount of money, they just lasted that much longer.

I bought a set of monster Turbines as my next pair for 50 bucks, not wanting 180 dollar headphones that will break after 2 years. I had done a lot of research on head-fi and everyone seemed to be raving about them, despite them being monster products. For 50 bucks, I figured what the hell.

Imagine, if you will, that you had been wearing sunglasses your entire life, since the day you were born. You thought the world was dark and shitty, and that daytime ended at 4 because everything was too dim after that. You had no peripheral vision. Someone came up to you one day and kindly informed you that you were wearing glasses, but you stubbornly refused to listen. Then they were like "ok, buddy. but i mean you havent even felt your face until now. If you keep looking in the mirror with sunglasses on, what do you expect to see?" So you felt your face, felt the sunglasses there, took them off, and holy fucking asstitsballs.

Thats what it was like. I ripped those monsters right out of my ears because I was so shocked at how much insane detail there was in the music I was hearing. I was completely unprepared for it. Then I spent the next few days systematically going through my library relistening to every single thing.

Unfortunately, the monsters were complete shit in terms of build quality, but my next pair was ATH-m50, and my future upgrade will probably be HD650, and after that (if there is an after that) it will be HE-6.

Budget - 200–300€. Max. 350.

Source - iPhone, iPad, MacBook.

Requirements for Isolation - Definitely could use some decent isolation on these, as I use them in public as well.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - I'll be using these all round – traveling, working, studying, commuting, etc.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-Ear/Full-Sized.

Preferred tonal balance - I must admit that I am not entirely sure on this, but, judging by the fact that my musical selection is quite varied, I would assume that a balanced sound is probably best.

Past headphones - Bose On-Ear (Discontinued)

Preferred Music - Pretty wide variety of music – from Techno and Indietronica to Jazz and HipHop. Sometimes classical music, rock, pop, podcasts, etc.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - The current Bose headphones I have are pretty good, though they do not suit the commuting (i.e. Biking/Walking) very well. Furthermore, they somehow sit on my (arguably large) head oddly. I've tried the Bose QC25, for example, and they fit/sat in the right place a lot better.

Location - As you may have guessed from the price-range given in €uro, I am situated in Europe (Netherlands).

Thanks in advance for your help :)

I've had beats solo headphones since 2012 or so and they're kinda meh. I feel like the sound quality has actually deteriorated on them. Other headphones I've used are apple earbuds and these bluetooth headphones. Sorta just meh.

Best headphones I ever had in terms of sound was the Bose triport on-ear headphones. Those were perfect, but they broke because of Bose's dumb design to have a 1 inch long headphone jack. So I'm looking for something like that. Price range is $200 and below.

  • Budget - Willing to spend like 250-300$ If an amp is needed maybe up to 400$ CAD (Im located in Canada)
  • Source - Only for my PC , Although if the headphones Allow for it SOMETIMES my my Phone (LG G4) if i feel like watching something in bed
  • Requirements for Isolation - Atleast Some , although my place isnt necessarily "noisy" family at some times can make noise
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No I plan to only use these at home
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - I prefer Over-ear
  • Preferred tonal balance - Dunno if im necessarily a "basshead" but I can say that i do tend to like(as of late) rap music which tend to be abit bass heavy sometimes but I also do like my fair share of pop and more electronic music too
  • Past headphones - The headphones I had used for the longest time we're bose on ear headphones (not sure what the exact name is but I think they are discontinued ) and that was the best pair of headphones I ever owned at the time (prob my first step into better audio ever) after that I tried the Seinheiser HD 598 although I really loved how it sounds I had just 2 issues with it, The bass seemed kinda lackluster as if there wasnt any "boom" to some parts of songs where there would normally be a "boom" that and because Im also a huge gamer when I tried playing with those in some FPS games gunshot sounds we're like "killing my eardrums" other than that they did sound really nice in my opinion, As of right now im using the hyperXCloud2 but thats just because I wanted a headset to game with, but Imo in terms of audio it was a stepdown from what I had prior except that base does exist compared to the HD 598.
  • Preferred Music - Mainly Rap and Pop(type of songs you see that get put into the top 50 Global/US on spotify basically)
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I want overall better audio thats more clear if possible for music and gaming because I do alot of both.

I have been looking alot and searching around for info and Ive been looking into Beyerdynamic DT series and the one I had my eye on was the DT 770 mainly because people say Gamers tend to like closed back more So i thought that made sense. But when it comes to Impendance whats the differences ? Why would I buy Higher Impendance and need an amp when I could get lower and not need an amp(assuming there is no or very little audio quality difference)

Not sure if needed but From searching around apparently Motherboards help determine what Ohms are best if being used in a PC , if thats the case my Mobo is : Asus - Prime Z370-P

P.S alot of things that I know/think I know we're all information ive gathered while being curious and googling lots of topics related to headphones, if some of the things I said are wrong/inaccurate I apologize

Budget: 80 - ~130

Source - computer/mobile devices, music and youtube, very light gaming (only CS:GO, for footsteps)

Requirements for Isolation: I'm going to be using them at home, but i would still like a decent amount of isolation.

Preferred Type of Headphone: on-ear or full sized/over-ear, preferably closed, also detachable cable is a MUST.

Preferred tonal balance - balanced.

Past headphones - shitty low quality ear buds and these (bose OE2) headphones, which were great, until the ear pads started to fall apart. I would buy them again, but I'm sure that i find better in its price range.

Pls respond (´・ω・`)

I have the Old Bose OE Headphones and am thinking it may be time for an update. Would I get better sound from current headphones in the $125-$200 price range?

u/Rodorufo · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - <200

Source - PC.

Requirements for Isolation - Don't want sound to go outside of room.

Will You be Using These Headphones in Public? - Nope.

Preferred Type of Headphone - EDIT: Over-Ear, On-Ear.

Preferred tonal balance - I'd like it to use them for FPS (for situational/positional awareness), but I'd like to watch movies/TV/anime with them too! I don't really do music... hmm... yea.

Past headphones - Bose On-Ear Headphones, got them from Costco! That's really what they call them!

Preferred Music - I don't music. I like music, but I can go weeks without listening to any. But when I think I focus on vocals, mainly pop I think.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - My Bose is falling apart, and I would like to attach a ModMic or alternative in it.

Location - US

Considering - From Mad Lust Envy's post: AD700x doesn't seem that I can do anything outside of gaming with these. K612, my main choice atm, usable outside of gaming. K701, according to Mad this is worse than K612 outside of gaming? Q701 these too, K612 seems superior. DT990, a post from r/headphones says these are not really good for gaming so I'm confused. All that selection is based on high ratings on Mad's "Competitive" criteria, like he/she said I would like to have an aural wall hack.

Hope this is not too late. Thank you!
