Honestly if you can pick up plants of the pacific northwest coast you'll be sitting pretty, it's the best guide imo, the others aren't as detailed, and their construction is chintsy. PPNWC is constructed of high quality water resistant paper, the waxy type stuff... makes alot of sense being a PNW guide, lol.

I can reccommend Mushrooms of the pacific Northwest mushrooms are a traditionally atypical survival food. but they grow in such abundance here that it makes sense to at least know a little bit about them... and this guide is likewise water resistant.

also there is Botany in a day I feel this is a great botany primer for herbs and shrubs and such. the book teaches you how to identify plants based on family. most family have similar properties. For example, all asters are essentially dandelions, and are edible usually with decent roots.

I've been trying to find similar texts for the "dry" side I haven't had much luck.
