(I'm his roommate) We have a... worn edition of monopoly, A traveler's edition of Catan, Scythe, Empire Builder, Mansions of Madness, Arkham Horror, Chess, and Boss Monsters... I think that's most of them.

7 wonders is super fun once you get the hang of it.

another fun game that i just recently played is Boss Monster. the rounds go pretty quick usually and it's pretty easy to pick up how to play.

I suggest Boss Monster! It's like a nostalgia trip to the 8-bit era of RPGs in card-game form! Only, you're playing the boss monster instead of the heroes. It's for 2-4 people, and games wrap up in about 15-20 minutes as well. Hero cards are drawn and piled into the middle of the playing area, and then go into the dungeons based on what 'treasures' are in each dungeon tile. It's awesome waiting and seeing which traps they'll run into, how many heroes don't make it, etc.

I notice you don't have many TV shows on your list, but this might be something you would like.
Or if you want something out of left field this game looks really fun.

I wish I knew your budget so I could figure out the price range to go for but here but I'll try to suggest something from three ranges.

First Is like to recommend any dice from chessex. They are a great company and make dice that are well balanced. You can pick them up at your local card/comic/board game shop for around 8$ a pack. The nice part about cheeses is it comes with a non bag see through case with your dice that makes them great for showing off.

An awesome dragon puzzle that you both can put together and hang on the wall after your done

Boss Monster is a fun boardgame where you try to kill the heros instead of the other way around. It is quick to pick up and a fast play if you have a limited time.

Quarriors if he likes boardgames and rolling dice this is for him. It's a dice board game that functions like a deck building one

Remember folks, even with a fresh coat of paint, it's still Monopoly, and Monopoly is still the worst.
