B's mom insists that we all provide lists for her and her mother so there's no question of what to get - it's kind of nice, because you actually get what you ask for! I never got any gifts that I asked for when I was a kid, so this is cool to me. :)

  • AncestryDNA test - I've wanted to do one of these kind of tests for SO LONG, so I am finally hoping to do it this year!
  • SUSHEZI! I'm hoping this thing is cool and works well; if so, I foresee quite a bit of sushi in our future.
  • This lap desk so I can shitpost from bed more comfortably. :)

one of these?

I got a Sushezi last year for a secret santa gift. They work pretty good.

u/taburl · 5 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

I purchased a random device, the Sushezi, on Amazon that allows you to cheat on actually constructing/rolling typical sushi rolls.

I figured I'd give it a shot and see if I liked it... and now I've used it about once a week for several months. Once you have the staples mentioned by /u/unthused, you can even get imitation crab meat, some avocados, etc., at Aldi for next to nothing.

Storytime! I was so afraid of rolling sushi I actually bought a Sushezi. It is a terrible invention (it does actually work though), and I've long since realized that rolling my own is far easier than wrangling that contraption. Give rolling a try, and if you mess up, just eat it as a sushi bowl and it'll still be delicious! I believe in your sushi skills, internet stranger!

And for those of us who can’t roll sushi for shit, this thing was a GAME! CHANGER! Camp Chef Sushezi Roller Kit - Sushi Rolls Made Easy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P8J1GU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ojPvCbGZ90WK9

Check out a sushi bazooka. It looks like some cheesy "As Seen On TV" BS product, but I have one and I can verify it actually works... though I haven't done keto sushi with it.

u/Qingy · 3 pointsr/Cooking

I have one of these and they're a huge help! It does take a few tries to get your sushi looking perfect, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly.

u/broken_ship · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Me too! I want to start making my own though. There's this easy sushi maker I found the other day. It looks promising!

u/LiliedHart · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

LMAO sorry, oops. Here you go.

Basically rice labeled 'sushi rice' will do, I used to get Kokuho Rose or something like that. He's also going to want seaweed sheets. Any Asian grocery store will have these, but the rice might come in really, really massive bags. I found some on Amazon that were more expensive per oz but more manageable in size.

u/snipatomic · 2 pointsr/OddlyArousing

All the rice. Apparently it is indeed for "sushi"... Amazon link (also posted below):

Even in the images on Amazon, they use about 20x as much rice as filling... and the rolls appear to be ~ 4-5 cm in diameter.

u/ssjvash · 2 pointsr/shutupandtakemymoney

Amazon link But note that "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months."

u/stubbytuna · 2 pointsr/90daysgoal

So, here's a story about Stubby (me), I bought this ridiculous contraption on amazon that like, "makes sushi" for you because I wanted to make healthy vegetarian sushi at home instead of spending all my coin on fried sushi rolls (because let's be real, if I am going out for sushi, I am going ALL OUT, you know what I mean?)

Anyway, it's hilarious but got the job done. I did make a sacrilegious "BLAT" sushi roll. And it was pretty tasty.

u/LadyLucifer · 2 pointsr/Bento

Nice, I didn't catch that edit of yours, sorry.

Actually, the link that is still in your comment is the knock-off version, it doesn't look to me that Amazon sells the real Sushezi or you aren't guaranteed to get one depending on the reseller. Here are the reviews for that one stating the obvious knock-off/quality control issues, 8% 1/5 star reviews. I was about to order it too, but I won't take the chance.

Edit: Where'd you snag yours? :D

u/LIO115 · 2 pointsr/food

If it's going to become a regular thing - Sushezi

u/jayjaym · 2 pointsr/Bento

For the casual sushi maker, try this. Then you can focus more on getting the flavors your want and don't really have to worry about the technique for rolling it.

  • The thing I want is this because I love sushi and would like to learn to make my own!

  • Elephant Barber

  • third thing

  • something about me: I love photography, reading, and general nerdiness. (:

The following I recommend:

http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Champ-Pocket-Knife/dp/B0001GS19U/ref=sr_1_6?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1377493877&sr=1-6&keywords=swiss+army+knife

I think she would love this. She can use this to help her in the outdoors and it will make her feel like she will have more utility. I have had success with the swiss army knife from cutting ropes to helping my dad repair the bathroom.

For tasty food why not surprise her by making sushi with these products. Not only will you show your skill to her but also she will love you even more:

All you need to do is find the sushi recipes online not to mention you can youtube it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mm_5Z__TjQ

For cleaning why not surprise her and make your own safe cleaning products. Hell do some research on how to make cleaning products. Nothing says I love you like making her gifts especially ones that can help her clean and be safe.

That is all I got.

(I hope that link works) hear me out. The sushezi roller looks rediculous. I mean. You load the rice in, make a trough, add the fillings, close it. And boom. Sushi roll. I make homemade "sushi" with it at least once a week. No, it's not authentic, but it makes life so easy.

Botan Calrose Rice Extra Fancy, 5lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HQIN68/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vY71BbF9HECS3

This is also the rice I use. I can usually find it in a Walmart though. I don't have a rice cooker persay, but I do have one of those instapots that has a rice setting on it. It shouldn't be difficult to cook in a pot though.

I'm no expert by any means, but let me know if you have questions!

You also made me hungry. Thx =-)

I also make sushi but use sushiez
