Smithsonian American Art Museum
Monterey is the setting for American writer John Steinbeck's (best!) novels Tortilla Flat (1935), Cannery Row (1945), and Sweet Thursday (1954).
Born in Providence, RI on March 14, 1889. Basinet was a pupil of Hugo Bruel, Jean Goucher, Antonio Cremonini, Angelo Carducci, and David Siqueiros. He lived in both Monterey and Los Angeles during the late 1930s. He died in the latter on Oct. 9, 1956. Member: LA AA; Charcoal Club (LA); Bloc Mural Painters (LA). I saw your comment a day ago, but I didn't really know how to respond to it, since it is a slightly odd book request. The sad matter of fact is that reading a book isn't going to suddenly change how you act and others perceive you. Nonetheless, literature can aid you perhaps in thinking about intentions vs perception/reality.
