Well when I'm using a real GPS I put one of these on the dash http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002IKKFJ6?pc_redir=1410437440&robot_redir=1 the good thing about the bean bag mount is that there is no adhesive and it is quite grippy so it doesn't slide around. I place the bean bag in the center of the dash where it is easy for my eyes to travel.

The phone is still central and high enough in my field is view where I can easily read it.
