My relative uses both Waze and google maps. He prefers waze though. My understanding is uber app will ask you if you want to use their map through the app or if you'd like to open the trip on another app. As for the phone holder, he has two. one like this or (probably this, not sure) ; and another one like this which he placed on the left side of the windshield.
