Went to a wedding where my party had to stand for the entire reception because there wasn't enough seating. We at least had a high top table to use or I probably would've left.
I would just make sure there's lots of flat surfaces around. Even if you have to get a few fold out tables like these:

They'd be easy to decorate with a pretty candle, and they would fold up easy when you're done. And some stools lined against the wall will at least give people a chance to rest their plates on their laps.
