This is wildly incorrect. Human beings have been shown to be significantly impacting the environment for at least 6,000 years. If you subscribe to the Human Overkill Hypothesis for the Sixth Mass Extinction, then it goes back at least twice that. New Zealand and Madagascar's experiences definitely support this.
