> I am looking for series that can be bought in one big omnibus or one-volume set. I prefer this format because it's usually cheaper, and easier than purchasing 3 or more individual books. Any suggestions?

Here's a shopping list for you. All links go to the Amazon's US site.

Not only still in print but as of 2007 (I think?) they started being released in omnibus editions that collect two or three books at a time. There's 9 total if I remember right. Of the individual books, that is. Not the omnibus volumes.

Here's Amazon's link to the first omnibus: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WUG56M/ref=series_rw_dp_sw

When I hear Glen Cook all I think about is The Black Company. If you have not read it, stop playing and get on it now. Here I'll get you started

Gardens of the Moon is pretty great. If you find the Malazan stuff to be a bit too heavy for you right now, check out the first collection of books from The Black Company.

Red Mars is pretty good, but Green and Blue Mars get progressively more dense. I always enjoyed the descriptions of how they were terraforming mars, but by the end of the second book I was pretty tired of most of the cast.
