Yeah, I had been on other diets for my Colitis. Ones that eliminated dairy and processed meats, anti-inflammatory diets, etc. The SCD is the only one that not only worked, but got me out of a flare up and kept me out.

You do have to be more conservative at the beginning of the diet as to what you eat and how you cook it (as your insides heal you are able to digest a larger variety of foods allowed within the diet). Also, there are some things that may simply never be able to eat, despite being allowed on the diet. What I found is that there are some things that are fine to eat in small amounts on a daily basis, but too much and you'll regret it the next day.

It works for a lot of people. If you are starting this diet, I would also suggest reading this: http://www.amazon.com/Management-Celiac-Disease-sidney-haas/dp/B0000CHZGT As it's the book written by the doctor that's the basis for Elaine Gottschall's book (it's old, but goes more into the science of the diet)

Please feel free to ask me any future questions you may have about the diet (trust me, you will have them, it can be confusing to follow). We're all in this together.
