I didn't really have any symptoms other than retaining water until I hit 15% kidney function. I think the main thing that has helped is maintaining a decent diet. There are a few books I've read as well that helped me set up a plan that works for me because everyone's body is different. Coping with Kidney Disease: A 12-Step Treatment Program to Help You Avoid Dialysis The biggest thing has been the fatigue and shortness of breath but my doctor tells me after I start dialysis it should get better.

Pretty much been limiting protein intake to 20-30grams a day. Don’t eat meat, drink plenty of water, snack all the time and you should be pretty good. This diet delayed a friend of mines transplant 10years following this book. I am late in the process (my doctor told me to get on the list) but I am going to try this diet until I can, and my kidney feel sooooo much better with low protein diets. They don’t feel heavy any longer and I don’t feel pain when sitting or leaning on one side or another.

Hope this helps( God has also been my rock so I’d also read the Word and go to church)
