Because they are sold by the newegg marketplace not newegg themselves and the marketplace sellers are often horribly overpriced.

Just above the price it lists "sold and shipped by ___" and if that isn't newegg you are looking at a marketplace seller.

Here is the newegg listing for the ballistix at half the price of the marketplace seller ($109+$6 shipping):

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820164052&Description=Ballistix%20Sport%20LT%208GB%20260-Pin&cm_re=Ballistix_Sport_LT_8GB_260-Pin-_-20-164-052-_-Product

Amazon has it even cheaper ($93+free shipping):

EDIT: Sorry I didn't read that you had the P50 listed. Honestly I feel like that's the better choice. If you start with the $1000 model you a great chassis and the expandibility you need. You can get a 256gb sata 3 2.5 inch ssd for $70 and another 8gb stick of ram for $37. If you need those items buy them and install yourself.

This is an option, but the only benefit is you get another $100 worth of upgrades up front. I don't think it's a bad laptop, but I think the P50 is probably the better choice considering you get another HD bay and 64gb ram option if you need that in the future.

  • $900 base price with 1tb hdd and 8gb ram
  • $954 (remove 1tbb hard drive, add 256gb sandisk ssd)
  • buy ram separate to upgrade to 16
  • i7 6700hq
  • 256GB ssd
  • 16GB ram
  • 960M 2gb
  • IPS panel
  • 5.5 lbs

  • Supports 32gb (16gb x 2)

Don't bother with the 16 GB ram or the 512 GB SSD. It's much cheaper to add them in aftermarket. Dell charges you $100 extra to go from 8 to 16 gigs, but a 32 gig DDR4 kit @2400 mhz is only $140 from Amazon. A single 8 gig stick will set you back only $40.

I personally ordered the 6820HK/1070 stock config, and I'll be adding in ram and hard drive space later.

Put two sticks of the 8GB Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - BLS8G4S240FSD (https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-Single-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B01DGOF7EA/) in my new Alienware 13 R3 and it worked perfectly.

As mentioned by another user, there are a few DDR4 RAM options on sale through amazon at midnight tonight, there are the links to a few that I found:

(Apologies if this doesn't link, i don't comment much!)

Edit: by clicking on these links it doesn't show a deal, it shows these on the main page though as items that will have a deal at the time, so I guess check back then to see what the deal is?

I'll be picking one up but not too sure which speed I can get for my build, or what the limiting factors are..

I'll probably add this to the main page once the deals come active

I have a 13R3 coming in soon and had done some research earlier, probably should have posted it somewhere - a 1TB 850 EVO m.2 was on sale for $250 last week on Newegg (it comes w/ a Watch Dog 2 code as well). For those looking for the best bang/buck now though, I'd go with the MX300. It performs surprisingly well for a budget SSD.

(Although that Microcenter deal for the Intel 600p looks great if you live near one.)

Besides the HyperX, you can also get an 8GB stick of Crucial Ballistix DDR4 2400 for about $7 cheaper.

+1

I did the same thing.
Here's the one I got. Seems like the price is going up nowadays.

It doesn't have to be exactly matching, you just need the same power, so something like this one would work or even this one :)
