Daiwa BG 2500 for $95

Daiwa Fuego 3000 for $80. Cabelas also has the 2500 for $70

The rod is fine, but for the reel I'd step up to the Daiwa BG which is only a few bucks more, but is a much better built reel.

The BG is, bar none, the best spinning reel made in that price range, and it's not even a real competition. You could get a Daiwa SS Tournament, but that is stretching the budget even more.

The Ugly Stik is a fine rod, but I'd also check out Berkley Lightning Sticks, which are around the same money.

For line, all I fish these days is P-Line Flouroclear and Suffix 832 braid so take that as you will. However, you will frankly be just fine with good old Trilene or Stren if you don't want to spend the money.
