With that budget I wouldn’t mess around with Black Max’s and Ugly Stiks
The Daiwa Fuego CT with a 7’ medium heavy Dobyns Colt comes in right at around $150 and will be really hard to beat for the money. It’s also a very easy reel to learn with due to the magnetic braking setup.
Black max and silver max are cheaper, starter reels. They do the job, but don't expect it to be your last reel. If you enjoy using a baitcasting reel then spend a little more money for something better. Daiwa Fuego CT Baitcasting Reel is a reel that for $75, I would be happy to own.
There are reels from lews in the$80-100 range that are quite good. I would stay away from the cheaper models.
I would stay away from the lower end shimano reels. I haven't liked shimano reels for a while. However, I just got a curado k for $130 from American legacy on eBay based on some real use reviews. At below $150 this might be the best reel for the money. It looks and feels very nice. I hope I'm not disappointed.
