Guys seriously if you have never patched up a hole in a wall from a nail or screw it is literally one of the easiest things to do.

Simply pick up some spackling (http://amzn.com/B000H5S64K) online, from Walmart, or from a hardware store. Second, get a putty knife (about $4) and some sandpaper (around 220 grit which is finer and less abrasive than, say, 100 grit which is very coarse). This can all be done in one trip to the same store or one session online.

Take the spackling and ball it up like chewed gum and ram it into the hole (( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)) you're trying to patch. Then take the putty knife, which has a complete flat edge, and scrape the edge of the putty knife across the spackle you just placed. Basically you're trying to make the spackle flat with the wall. Wait for the spackle to dry for about 30 minutes (you'll know it's dry because the originally pink spackle will now be white) and then sand it with circular motions for about 30 seconds, longer if you used a lot of spackle. You're done. If your walls are white that's probably all you need to do. If your walls are painted you'll want to do a quick touch up over the newly spackled hole. That's it.

After you get the materials it should take about 5 minutes of labor plus 30 minutes for the spackle to dry. This is for both holes, one for each lighthouse you're patching because you're moving to a new place or whatever it is.

Hopefully this helps someone gain the confidence to mount their lighthouses with screws or nails. Good luck!

Don't use command strips. There's a rotating piece of hardware in the lighthouses. That sets up vibrations, which works any temporary adhesive (command strip, tape) apart. Then your lighthouse falls 7-9 feet onto your floor.

Use screws into studs (I'd highly suggest pre-drilling the holes). Stud finders work, though personally I use a medium size (inch+) neodymium magnet to find studs (it'll stick anywhere there's a nail/screw behind the wall). Then invest in drywall putty and some paint if/when you remove them. Takes a half hour max, and that includes finding a ladder and cleanup.

Just get a wall mounted indoor hanging kit. As far as damage, get some spackle and boom, easy repair.
