Book: Design Concepts in Programming Languages (MIT Press).
Design Concepts in Programming Languages is the best text currently available, IMHO. Be warned that you're in for a long, but fun, slog, at least as long as you don't just do yet another gloss on Object Pascal or Lisp circa 1980. Hint: the world doesn't need another imperative object-oriented language, whether dynamically or statically typed.
