First of all, verify what you read on the Internet.

Go to the power panel, and see if your circuit breaker is 20 amp or 15 amp.
If it is 15 amp, buy 14 gauge wire. If 20 amp, buy 12 gauge wire.
If 14 gauge wire, buy 15 amp outlets
