Amazon had listed them as sold out, but apparently they've now got more allocated to them.

It seems strange to me that everyone is having so much trouble understanding the concept:

It's like a collector's edition.
Does it have any better specs? No.

It is the card that nVidia made internally as a design demonstration for other card manufactures.

Since it was developed as a reference model, it might have fewer cost-saving measures than would typically be included in a release card, but that basically does nothing; maybe the cards break 5% less often or something, but no likely tangible benefit.

But it was the first 1080 developed. If someone was an nVidia fan, and wanted to spend an extra $100 to have the first 1080 ever made with all 100% nVidia craftsmanship, then this might be something they'd like.

And that's it. If that's not worth it to you, that's fine. It's not worth it to me either.

What I don't understand is why everyone is getting butt-hurt that there's a product on the market that they don't want to buy.

For example here is another overpriced produce that I would never consider buying
A $300 version of Diablo III. The game is still Diablo III. There's some bullshit art book and DVD, but nothing remotely close to justifying the extra $270.

If there's a product that you don't want to buy, that's it. If no one buys it, than nVidia made a marketing mistake, but getting all offended that someone tried to offer a sentimental product with mostly intangible benefits just seems ridiculous.

It's currently available on Amazon for pre-order with release day delivery.

All I'm finding is the standard Diablo 3, not the collector's edition.

edit: Apparently I am an idiot.

Does anyone know if it we pre-order it at Amazon or Gamestop will it be sitting for us at home on release date or will they not ship it till the release date. Along with that would I be able to just pick it up at Gamestop?

Today, Jay Wilson tweeted a photo of the "Real" Diablo 3 box. The thing is, that is the very same box Amazon has been displaying for weeks, if not months.

So I can safely say this is going to be the box for the collectors edition. It seems to fit the Tyrael theme, and contrast nicely with the Diablo box.

Here is the listing for Diablo III: Collectors Edition
