I read the book Do What You Are and was so disappointed when I identified with ISFP description. So boring compared to the other descriptions I had read. A sensitive person who wants everyone to get along and likes pretty surroundings. Also strong morals but won't discuss them. Ugh.

Current college student, I'm going into HR.

I would recommend the book "Do What you Are" . That's what helped to guide me when I was choosing colleges/majors. Take the book's suggestions with a grain of salt - the careers listed in there aren't exactly what YOU have to do. But it's a good starting point :)

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator is a multiple choice assessment given by certified professionals (often guidance counselors, HR professionals, etc.) who are trained to administer the assessment and interpret the results. More info on where to find one is on the Myers Briggs website.

You can also approximate your results with books such as Do What You Are.

Hope that helps!

Figuring out what really makes you tick is the hardest thing about the whole job/career mess. When I was in my 20's the Mrs. got a copy of "Do What You Are" and it helped a bunch. Might be helpful, might not.

In any case, don't ever feel bad about leaving something that doesn't suit you and makes you miserable. There are careers that can be a lot more rewarding and you don't necessarily have to be miserable. Really put some time and effort and patience into trying to figure out what that is - it will be worth it. Trust me, I'm 46 and been in the career world long enough to know these things from experience. Good luck man!

I have picked up a book on the subject before. I don't have it anymore, but it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Do-What-You-Are-Personality/dp/0316167266/ref=dp_ob_image_bk

It didn't give a test for people to figure out their personality type. Again, it used http://i.imgur.com/TZf6s0b.jpg and you had to determine where on it you fit.
