They also sell this thing you attach to the end of a garden hose and put in the pipe to blow it through. Always worked on the worst of my sink clogs, even when crazy chemicals wouldn't. Since yours is definitely a soft clog (as opposed to something like tree roots that need a mechanical auger), you might want to look into one. Bonus points for looking like a freaky sex toy.

I haven't used one yet but I've heard they work well

I have a septic tank so sometimes the clog would be really deep. All ya gotta do is hook this up to a hose and feed it down the drain. you turn the water on and the balloon expands to the pipe, only allowing water pressure to build forward. wait about 30 seconds for the pressure to build up and bam!, pushes the clog out

You’ll need something to block the water from coming back at you.

I’ve used something like this before with some success.

Also handy, these dick looking pressurized pipe cleaners

But obviously you'll need a garden hose handy.

I am a plumber in Canada BC. You can buy these little bladders that connect to a garden hose. You insert them into a clean out downstream from your house (important). When you turn the water on the water pressure builds and the bladder inflates creating a seel in the pipe. Once the pressure is high enough it blasts out of the bladder and clears everything out of the pipe downstream.
They are ideal for maintaining bows in pipes as.

Very important to make sure you are down stream from your house connection as the pressure can and will blow your sink fittings apart.

They come in all sizes depending on your size of pipe, altho 8" is pushing it. Having a pro jett it out is always a safe bet as well. Hope this helps.
