It is exceptionally harsh on electronics. The metal contacts themselves will be fine, but the PCB and plastic connectors that the metal contacts and traces run through/are connected to will likely be ruined. Brake cleaner is excellent for removing moisture, but it is very harsh on anything that's not metal, and thus should be used sparingly, precisely (as in, apply with a cotton swab, do not just spray the whole thing), and immediately cleaned away after application (with towel or cotton swab or alcohol wipe).
Unless you know what you're doing, and are precise and careful, I'd say using brake cleaner would do even more harm than submerging/spraying the PCB in water. I would recommend against using it period, there are safer ways to dry and clean the board.
The proper approach:
I actually had this same issue with my 2004.5 S40 [nice to see they fixed it!]. After I added extensions to the hoses I still had to clean out the wetness in the car. You might want to try a couple of things first before taking out the carpet:
I didn't have much moisture in my car but it was noticeable as I kept getting frost on my interior windshields during the cold months. I didn't have so much that I tried a Wet/Dry Vac, but I put in some dry packs in when I fixed the hoses and did find water in them after a couple of days. Don't seem to be having any issues now.

Let me start off with, I love sleeving cards. I can watch tv or a movie and sleeve cards all day every day. I'm crazy so I open all sealed products with latex gloves, then cards go into a KMC perfect fit then I use this https://amzn.com/B00QK5AEBE to seal its soul. Then into an outer sleeve. Valuable cards go in binders and others into those white card boxes. I also throw one of these https://amzn.com/B001UYEBNW into the storage unit, deck box, binder, storage box. Hope this helps ya! =D
Fill your case with one these moisture absorbing silicon packs and wait a week.

Well, you can get a locker fairly cheap as well as desiccant to keep things dry.
could this eliminate that problem?
edit: pelican already though of it
Throw some of these in it if you store it in plastic, just to be safe.
